Teams at Gazette Communications Our teams are changing the way we work together and the way we work with our customers. Why teams? We began piloting teams in our Advertising department in 1999 with a very clear goal – link services on our many quality products to become a true multimedia organization. Teams were designed to provide a full range of media services, outstanding graphic art support and specialized customer service. Due to the success of the pilot initiative, thirteen multimedia teams were introduced in newspaper advertising in April 2002. What kind of teams? Our first teams focused on advertising for health services, auto, and general business in a rapidly growing area of our community. We now have teams across different areas of our organization, including such areas as customer service, pagination and production. There are also special project teams for process improvement and team development. What are the results? We found ways for a good organization to get better. Production time has been reduced while quality has improved. Customers note the focus on creativity and personalized customer service. Team members enjoy the collaborative work environment.
